To find the average of a set of numbers you first add all the numbers up in the set and then divide by the total amount of numbers.

For example say your set consist of the following:

#32,40,29,45,33,33,38,41#

You would add them up:

#32+40+29+45+33+33+38+40=290#

Now you would take the total #290# and divide by the total amount of numbers, for our case we have a total of #8# numbers.

#290/8=36.25#

Our average is #36.25#
